Ni Weisi

Ni Weisi (1829-1893), whose original name was John Livingston Nevius, was one of the noted missionaries in the 19th century, and a priest of the Presbyterian Church of North America.

Born in a farmer's family, he was influenced by Christianity when he was a little boy. In 1853 he became a priest and one year later went to Shanghai. When Shandong Province was hit by drought in 1877, Ni Weisi volunteered to be one of the succors. Many Chinese who appreciated what he had done were baptized later. His missionary work in China lasted for 40 years till his death in 1893 in Yantai City.

He left us many works such as Guide to the Heaven, Theological Pandect and so on.
